Sami Seliö's thoughts about home and building
What kind of thoughts do you have about your future construction project?
- A building project is team work. Exactly like in my F1 team, also in a building project
everyone has their own tasks. You have to be able to trust these experts and the decisions they
make 100 percent. And as in a team that works well together, you have to have the courage to give
away responsibility, otherwise the result will not meet your expectations. Of course I want to drive
the project from the start until the finish line, just like in my F1 team.
What do you value in living and in a home?
- In living I value well-being in particular, and to me it me means good internal air, spaciousness
and breathability which I find extremely important. Of course it's also important that the house represents
Finnish design and quality, which we can then show to our international guests.
What kind of wishes do you have regarding the appearance/architecture/floor plan of the home?
- Regarding the appearance, I give free rein to the Honkatalot architect and I trust completely that he
will find the best solutions for us and with regard to the surroundings. In the floor plan the most important
factor for me is functionality based on my own needs and taste. Also in this matter I have confidence in the
professional who can modify and realise the "ideas" in the drawings.
What kind of material are you interested in?
- For me it was always clear that when the time comes to have my own home, it will be a wooden home.
Weather it would be a log home, a green-built wooden home or a post&beam construction, wasn't decisive,
just the fact that it's in wood. The decision between these structures isn't so easy nowadays, since the
constructional possibilities have changed tremendously. I myself am leaning towards a green-built wooden
home / post&beam construction. |
